We're huge fans of Tech Lighting, and for good reason. This lighting manufacturer has been going strong for over 25 years. The brand is famous for its low-voltage fixtures (e.g., pendants, monorails), but it offers so much more, including integrated LED fixtures (note: all of Tech Lighting's fixtures carry a one-year warranty; the integrated LEDs are warrantied for five years).
The beauty of modern and contemporary decorative lighting is that you can use it effectively in a wide variety of spaces. The right contemporary fixture has the ability to balance more traditional décor, and the sleek lines of modern lighting can work perfectly in transitional spaces.
Below are some of our current staff favorites.
1. Foscarini’s Caboche Suspension. Foscarini recently redesigned this piece with LEDs, so you'll enjoy energy efficiency, not mention the cool crystal vibe, thanks to the clear acrylic beads. See it in action in our Allston Showroom.
2. LZF’s “Swirl” Wood Lamp. A wood veneer shade swirling around a single bulb gives this fixture grace and movement. See it in Ivory White in our Allston showroom.
'Tis the season for delicious BBQs, lazy Sunday mornings sipping coffee on the porch, conversations (and s'mores!) around the fire pit, and so many other fun backyard activities we take part in with family and friends.
Of course, nothing can ruin backyard adventures like poor lighting, which is why having a sound exterior lighting plan is important (think safety and security), while landscape lighting allows you to carry your personal aesthetic to the great outdoors. If you need help choosing fixtures or creating a plan, our lighting consultants are always happy to help answer your questions.
In the meantime, we're unpacking new lighting products—products that celebrate the best in functional and elegant outdoor lighting. Below is a sampling, but we're getting new products in every day, so consider stopping by our Waltham or Allston showroom on the way home from work or on the weekend (yes, we have air conditioning!) to see these gorgeous products in person.
With new seasons come new fixtures to our showrooms!
You may remember our Feburary blog post about some of our favorites from the Dallas Market in January. We've been seeing some of our favorites of the year trickle in, and these are even more dazzling in person! Here's twelve of our favorites below.

Your design aesthetic influences more than the counters, cabinets, and flooring you choose for your home. It also influences the lighting. Here's what you need to know about different design styles and types of lighting.
For over 25 years, Visual Comfort & Co. has designed and manufactured lighting products renowned for their beauty, superior production, and exquisite attention to detail. Natural materials dominate many of the designs—think hand-rubbed antique brass, forged irons, even parchment paper.
Regarding its approach to finishes, Visual Comfort says, "We create 'living' finishes that are warm and real, fashioned to enrich and patina over time. And, we spare no detail in the realization of each design, giving our lighting true personality and integrity."
Under the leadership of head designer, Earl F. (Sandy) Chapman, Visual Comfort has led the way in producing gorgeous collections that complement a wide variety of decorative styles, including traditional and contemporary. Collections include E.F. Chapman, Thomas O'Brien, Barbara Barry, Alexa Hampton, and Suzanne Kasler. Last fall, Visual Comfort announced its newest partnerships with American interior and fashion designer Kelly Wearstler and Maryland-based Niermann Weeks.
At Wolfers, we're huge fans of this iconic brand—and so are our customers. Below are several favorite pieces.
In January, Jeff Seigal (one of our owners) and Bonnie Forbes (our Allston showroom manager) left our frigid New England winter behind and headed south for the Dallas International Lighting Market, a semi-annual event showcasing all the latest and greatest in the lighting industry.
If you're not familiar with the Dallas Market Center, here's some background. Founded in 1957, the DMC boasts "the most complete wholesale marketplace in the world." Its four buildings total more than five million square feet—roughly twice the size of the Empire State Building. In addition, the Dallas Market Center offers more than 1500 permanent showrooms featuring thousands of product lines ranging from lighting to garden accessories to everything in between.
Here's a small sampling of the lighting products that wowed us.
You may have seen some of our recent facebook posts about our staff favorites from the showroom. Corbett's Graffiti pendant is one of those fixtures that wows both staff and customers alike. We love it's contemporary styling, the handcrafted iron details and the play of the polished stainless steel and silver leaf accents.
