Last month, we were down in Dallas for Lightovation, the international lighting show where manufacturers sharer their latest designs and innovations.
Joyce Gravel, our Waltham showroom manager, provides a recap below, including lighting trends that are still going strong—and other ones picking up steam.
Soft gold shows no signs of stopping. We've written about this elegant finish quite a bit in the last few years as manufacturers tried (and ultimately embraced) a warm finish alternative to oil rubbed bronze. Who can blame them? Check out this soft gold finish from Hubbardton Forge.
Mixed metals and finishes are getting even hotter. Consider this gorgeous Hinkley Lighting fixture for inspiration.
Glass and metal combinations are also prevalent, especially artisanal glass, like this pendant from Tech Lighting.
Here's a quick roundup of lighting trend "buzz" around the Internet:
Reclaimed wood statement pieces = hot. Kichler is leading the way in this lighting trend with The Reclaimed Collection. As its website states, "The wood’s natural beauty and marks of time speak to a life well spent, including weathered corners, patinaed finishes and authentic nail markings. Kichler then transforms these pieces into beautiful light fixtures that complement an array of design tastes."
Color-tuning white reaches a wider audience. We've discussed this exciting technology before, and according to Linda Longo, editor of EnLIGHTenment magazine, "color-tuning products" are becoming easier for consumers to find.
Black is the new black—still. We talked about black finishes gaining in popularity shortly after January's Lightovation, and this trend shows no signs of slowing down. Quoizel's June 2018 item preview features many fixtures in black finish, and seriously, what's not to love with this sleek, modern look, right?
